Forest has worked as a researcher for the Rural Development Institute of Brandon Manitoba, there he performed research on a wide variety of topics pertaining to rural development and rural society. His Masters Thesis was on "Hemp Production in Manitoba as a Rural Development Tool". The "Plants for a Future" database is a continual inspiration for Forest.

Forest has lived in a community of 30+ persons from various backgrounds. Decision making was not something this community had to worry about. However, there were many group activities and work projects that required cooperation between persons with very different personalities. Meadow has spent over a year in total in semi-communal living.
