Each profile is built using multiple-choice options, enabling members to comprehensively express their preferences and what’s tolerable. Consequently, some responses may seem contradictory. Search Logic
- You can select multiple options within each search category.
- Leave any search box blank if you are open to all options within that category.
- When you choose options in a search box, only profiles matching your selections for that specific category will appear in your search results. For example, if you select “non-binary” and “non-binary + dependents” for the category “Gender + number,” your search will only return profiles that include one of these descriptions. Profiles with other gender or dependent configurations (e.g., female, male, non-binary pairs) will be excluded.

Search Tips
- If you get a “no results” message, use the “clear” button to reset between searches.
- You can select more than one item within a search filter.
- You can type into any search field, such as a location name into the “preferred regions” field.
- Use the provided map to identify U.S. regions when utilizing the “preferred regions” search limiter. Selecting a region will display profiles of members who are interested in that region, regardless of their current residence. There is some overlap, based on some U.S. states having more members represented.
- Profiles in the search results are ordered with the most recently logged-in members appearing at the top of the list.
- When using the display name search, results will be drawn only from the profiles currently selected. If you conducted a search using other limiters, use the “clear” button to reset before using the display name search.
- Start with a small number of limiters, and if you get too many results, gradually refine the search.

Profile Matching
To get matched automatically by the website, members must respond to 28 designated “Top Qs” questions. Three of these responses show up in the profile thumbnail. The other questions connect you with compatible individuals and households. For two profiles to match, they must share at least one overlapping multiple-choice response for all 25 “MATCHING Q” questions. These cover topics such as location, values, work preferences, and relationship desires. ICmatch members receive email notifications for new matches, which can also be viewed by clicking the bell icon. Explore compatibility further by reviewing detailed profiles of your matches, then connect through the free private chat, where external links or contact information can be shared safely. For added convenience, email notifications can be toggled on or off. Members are encouraged to complete more questions in all categories of their profiles over time. A comprehensive profile will allow those paying for extra search limiters to find you. Sharing more about yourself can also help others feel more comfortable reaching out. Added responses reveal nuanced characteristics that might be crucial for a successful match.
